Massuria 2018 displays a deep garnet red with ruby reflections in the glass. The nose is complex and elegant, with aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by delicate notes of white pepper, cloves, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. Mineral notes, typical of the slate terroir, lend the wine additional depth.
On the palate, the 2018 vintage displays exceptional balance. The tannins are fine and smooth, and the lively acidity ensures freshness and elegance. This vintage is characterized by its fruit-forward character, which sets it apart from other vintages. Compared to the 2016 vintage, which has a stronger mineral character, the 2018 Massuria offers more fruit intensity and a particularly juicy mouthfeel. The finish is long and concise, with subtle spicy notes and a pleasant minerality that dominates the aftertaste.
In magnum format, the 2016 and 2018 vintages are similar. They were very sunny years in which the grapes ripened perfectly, and the wines were fruity, flavorful, and with a fresh, very pleasant finish. They are among the very good vintages. Between the two, the 2016 is more mineral, while the 2018 shows more fruit.
Massuria 2018 is a wine with great aging potential, ideal for lovers of complex, terroir-driven red wines. Perfect with game dishes, lamb, or aged cheeses. Its fruity and fresh style also makes it an excellent companion for festive occasions.
