Tasting Note 2008

In the glass, Massuria 2008 displays a medium ruby red with garnet reflections, an indication of its advanced maturity. The nose is elegant and refined, with aromas of red fruits such as cherries and currants, which, with increasing aeration, reveal subtle tertiary notes of tobacco, dried fruits, and a hint of forest floor. A fine spicy undertone of cloves and cedar wood, as well as a mineral freshness, complement the bouquet.

On the palate, the 2008 vintage is harmonious and approachable, with supple, well-developed tannins and a lively acidity that lends the wine freshness and balance. Ripe red fruit aromas predominate, supported by subtle notes of spice and a lingering mineral elegance. The finish is soft, long, and characterized by a subtle complexity that underscores the wine's aging.

2008 – A vintage full of challenges: Despite the difficulties of this vintage, characterized by cooler and wetter conditions, Bodega Mas Asturias has created a balanced, elegant wine in its fourth year. Massuria 2008 exemplifies the Mencía grape's ability to produce wines with character and finesse, even under challenging conditions. Over the years in the bottle, Massuria 2008 has developed into a fine and elegant wine that continues to offer excellent aging potential.

Massuria 2008 is a wine for connoisseurs of mature vintages, particularly well-suited to grilled vegetables, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses. It is an authentic expression of the Bierzo terroir and offers a special culinary experience for lovers of fine, mature wines.
