Massuria 2016 displays an intense garnet red with light ruby reflections in the glass. The nose is elegant and refined, with a harmonious combination of mineral notes and fruity aromas such as ripe cherries, raspberries, and red currants. Subtle hints of spices such as white pepper and Mediterranean herbs complement the bouquet, while the minerality of the slate soils clearly emerges.
On the palate, the 2016 vintage is exceptionally balanced and characterized by its mineral finesse, which makes it stand out compared to the fruitier 2018 vintage. Both vintages were characterized by sunny conditions that facilitated excellent grape ripeness. The 2016 Massuria has a juicy, spicy character combined with supple tannins and a lively acidity that adds freshness and structure. The finish is long and precise, with a clear mineral note that masterfully reflects the terroir.
In magnum format, the 2016 and 2018 vintages are similar. They were very sunny years in which the grapes ripened perfectly, and the wines were fruity, flavorful, and with a fresh, very pleasant finish. They are among the very good vintages. Between the two, the 2016 is more mineral, while the 2018 shows more fruit.
This vintage is perfect for lovers of elegant, terroir-driven red wines. Ideal with game, lamb, or aged cheese, the 2016 Massuria also offers impressive aging potential, making it a wine that will continue to gain complexity over the years. Its mineral style makes it particularly attractive to connoisseurs who value wines with a deep connection to their terroir.
