Viña Aurita Blanco 2022
Origin: Lugo (Ribeira do Eivedo, plot “A Burata dá Salamanca”)
Grape varieties: Mainly Godello, supplemented by small portions of Torrontés and Dona Branca
Year: 2022
Production: 159 bottles
Soils: Clay (60%), Sand (30%), Silt (10%)
Orientation: Steep slopes, free from chemical fertilizers or pesticides
Altitude: 400–600 m
Vineyards: 22–23 year old vines, organically managed, with compost as the sole nutrient source
Climate: Atlantic, with moderate temperatures and ideal conditions for a slow and harmonious ripening of the grapes
Vinification: The grapes are pressed with stems, without prior destemming. Spontaneous fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts at temperatures between 17°C and 19°C, maintained by the use of water and fermentation skins. After natural settling, the wine is racked without using the yeast sediment. The entire process is the same as for a red wine, including malolactic fermentation. The wine is neither filtered nor clarified. Bottling uses a semi-automatic bottling line with 10 coarse filters to remove coarse particles without significantly compromising the purity of the wine.
Tasting Note
Viña Aurita Blanco 2022 displays a bright straw yellow in the glass with delicate golden reflections. The nose unfolds complex aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits such as grapefruit and lime, as well as subtle herbal notes and a characteristic minerality that reflects the terroir of the Ribeira Sacra. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a striking acidity of 6.8, providing structure and balance. The creamy texture and citrus and stone fruit aromas are complemented by a long, minerally-driven finish. Thanks to its structure, the wine is also an excellent accompaniment to meat dishes.
Viña Aurita Blanco 2022 is an exceptional expression of the Ribeira Sacra, ideally enjoyed at 11–12°C with seafood, poultry, or light meat dishes. A wine that reflects Carlos Carballo's philosophy: authenticity, respect for the terroir, and uncompromising quality.
