White wine

More than half of our white wines come from Galicia, and two out of three are Godello or Albariño. These are Atlantic wines, with acidity and salt rather than lush fruit. The counterweight comes from Xarel·lo from the Penedès and Tardana and Macabeo from Utiel-Requena, plus Arneis from Piedmont and a Fendant from Valais. Around 60 white wines from small estates, from CHF 17.

Our best-selling white is the Balsa Blanco from Viña de Eufemia: Xarel·lo, Tardana and Macabeo from chalky soils, 3,200 bottles, CHF 20. If you want pure Godello, take the Algueira Brandán, made in steel tanks without a single day in wood. The Attis Lías Finas is Albariño from vines over 50 years old in the Val do Salnés, six months on fine lees. And the Can Rafols Terraprima Blanc shows what Penedès limestone does to Xarel·lo.
