Chardonnay

With us, Chardonnay only comes with bubbles. All ten bottles are sparkling, and that makes for a good comparison: Champagne from Denis Frézier against Cava from Utiel-Requena, where Chardonnay grows at 700 to 750 metres. Both sides leave their wines on the lees for a long time. From CHF 21.

The Frézier family makes its Terroir Blanc from pure Chardonnay grown on plots in three villages, with more than three years on the lees, CHF 34.90. The Exception 2016 is Grand Cru from Cramant, more than seven years on the lees and without dosage. Spain has a direct answer: Viña de Eufemia's Eufemia Reserva Brut Nature is pure Chardonnay from limestone at around 750 metres and spent at least 70 months on the lees, CHF 35. For a lower-priced start, take the Millésime Brut Reserva 2022 from Pago de Tharsys, 24 months on the lees, for CHF 25.
