Roero lies across the Tanaro from the Langhe, on light sandy and calcareous soils of marine origin. The Battaglino family has farmed small plots around Vezza d'Alba there since the early 1960s, and grandfather's Colla vineyard played a key role when Roero was granted its first DOCG. Fabrizio Battaglino is the only Piedmont producer we carry, with eight wines from CHF 16.

The Nebbiolo d’Alba 2023 comes from the sandy Paradi’ site and smells of roses and spice; at CHF 16 it is one of our least expensive reds. White here means Arneis: the Roero Arneis Bastia 2024 sees no oak and tastes of apricot, apple and camomile, CHF 19. The Roero Colla 2021 is Nebbiolo from the family vineyard, 18 months in Allier oak barriques, 6,000 bottles, CHF 27. And the Barbera d’Alba Superiore Munbèl 2023 goes with braised meat and hearty pasta, CHF 20.
