Domaine de la Coquillade sits on a hill above Gargas, in the middle of the Luberon regional nature park, looking out towards Mont Ventoux. Most labels still say Ventoux, not Luberon: the vineyards lie mainly within the AOP Ventoux. The estate has been certified organic since 2022, and since 2024 Frank John, an oenologist from the Palatinate, has been leading its conversion to biodynamics. From this corner of Provence we carry only the Coquillade, with eight bottles from CHF 24.90.
The Coquillade Rouge 2023 is Grenache and Syrah in almost equal parts, aged in concrete eggs and oak barrels, CHF 39. The Elyo Rosé 2024 is almost pure Syrah, direct-pressed and fermented with wild yeasts, CHF 29. For the Coquillade Blanc 2024, Roussanne with a little Clairette ferments in amphorae and barriques. For dessert there is the Rubis 2023, a fortified sweet wine from Caladoc, around 1,000 bottles per vintage. And if you don't drink alcohol, take the alcohol-free sparkling rosé.
