Vineyard: Bush-trained Tardana vines over 60 years old, traditionally dry-farmed. The plot is family-owned and tended with the utmost respect for its natural balance.
Soils: Clay and sand
Climate: The year 2023 was marked by severe drought (<200 mm annual rainfall) and intense summer heat. This led to slow ripening and a concentrated, expressive harvest with remarkable acidity and freshness.
Vinification: Hand-picked into 15 kg crates, natural settling of the must by cold and gravity over 24 hours. Spontaneous fermentation with the grapes' own yeasts. Aged in French barriques with three months of bâtonnage on the fine lees to build complexity and texture.
Ageing: 3 months in barrique on the fine lees, with bâtonnage
Alcohol: 12% vol (as labelled)
Tasting note: Pale straw yellow with a soft, matt sheen. On the nose, complex aromas of peach, apricot and delicate spice from the barrel. The palate is creamy, with clear stone fruit, fine volume and an elegant, lingering finish.
Food pairing: Goes with Mediterranean starters, rice and pasta dishes, fresh salads, or as an aperitif.

José Luis Torres Carpio farms around 2.5 hectares in Casas de Eufemia by the lunar calendar. Each of his wines carries the name of its plot, with vines from 60 to over 100 years old.

The founder of Bodega Carres. He is a trained oenologist, schooled at the viticulture and oenology college in Requena, and founded the winery in 2008 in Casas de Eufemia, part of Requena in the D.O. Utiel-Requena, province of Valencia. He farms about 2.5 hectares of his own vines without chemicals, and work in the vineyard strictly follows the lunar calendar.
