Vineyard: Over 100-year-old bush vines, traditionally cultivated by the third generation. Sustainable agriculture in harmony with nature, without artificial irrigation (rain-fed agriculture).
Soils: Clay-limestone soils
Climate: Mediterranean climate with low annual rainfall (<200 mm); 2022 was a typical vintage with markedly hot summer months and dry conditions, which contributed to full ripeness and concentration.
Vinification: Hand-picked, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, gentle vinification with minimal intervention. Aging in used French barriques to preserve the primary fruit aromas of the Bobal grape.
Maturation: Aging in second-use French oak barriques
Alcohol content: 14% vol (labeled)
Tasting Note: Intense ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits such as raspberry and blackberry are complemented by delicate roasted and smoky notes. On the palate, harmonious, round, and balsamic with a toasted aftertaste; long-lasting with a fresh, fruity finish.
Food pairing: Ideal with grilled meat, game dishes, braised roasts, and mature hard cheeses. It will keep: the wine continues to develop in the bottle for years.

José Luis Torres Carpio farms around 2.5 hectares in Casas de Eufemia by the lunar calendar. Each of his wines carries the name of its plot, with vines from 60 to over 100 years old.

The founder of Bodega Carres. He is a trained oenologist, schooled at the viticulture and oenology college in Requena, and founded the winery in 2008 in Casas de Eufemia, part of Requena in the D.O. Utiel-Requena, province of Valencia. He farms about 2.5 hectares of his own vines without chemicals, and work in the vineyard strictly follows the lunar calendar.
