Five red varieties from two plots in the Avia valley, 20 months in new French and American oak barriques. Deep purple, blackberry and black cherry, pepper, clove, cinnamon, some smoke and herbs. Full on the palate, with silky tannins and fresh acidity; with air more fruit appears, along with roasted notes and a balsamic touch.
Decant it for an hour. We would drink it with grilled lamb or braised beef; for comparison, the same estate's Primo spends 30 months in 500-litre barrels.

This estate in the Avia valley traces its origins back to the 10th century. Today winemaker Inma Pazos runs it, ferments with wild yeasts and also works with clay amphorae.

The estate traces its origins back to the 10th century, hence its motto «Dende o Século X», since the 10th century. The O Figueiral site has been documented since the 13th century and was replanted with native varieties in 1978. It gives the Colleita Seleccionada Finca o Figueiral, one of the white wines we stock.
