Grape variety: 98% Mencía, 2% Alicante Bouschet.
Production: 6,480 bottles (0.75 l), 1,136 magnums, 120 double magnums, 15 bottles of 6 litres and 4 bottles of 12 litres.
Soils: Predominantly clay and clay-loam soils, supplemented by individual plots with rolled gravel and sand.
Climate: Mediterranean climate with continental influences.
Vinification: The grapes were hand-picked during four consecutive days from September 10 to 13 under optimal conditions. A harvesting team of 15 people made it possible to pick each plot at the optimal ripening time and to carry out the harvest on days with good weather, but without great heat. This was followed by a short ageing period in French barriques (10% new barriques) to preserve the fine balance and elegance of the vintage. The wine then matured for two years in concrete tanks, was bottled in 2024 and stored for more than a year in the bottle before sale.

Tasting notes: Massuria 2021 shows a clear, luminous ruby red in the glass. On the nose, the wine presents itself elegantly and rather restrained, with fresh red fruits, fine mineral notes and a subtle spice. The aroma is precise and subtle, underlining the cool character of the vintage.
On the palate, the 2021 vintage presents itself with exceptional harmony. The tannins are fully integrated and silky, while the fresh acidity provides structure and tension. This vintage shows a perfect balance between finesse, elegance and minerality.

Special features: After a series of exceptionally warm vintages from 2015 to 2020, 2021 presents itself as a significantly cooler vintage influenced by the Atlantic climate. A rainy winter ensured good water reserves, while the summer was balanced until the end of July. After a dry August, abundant rainfall occurred shortly before the harvest, which dictated the optimal harvesting time for the winegrowers. The grapes were picked exactly at the perfect stage of ripeness, preserving their freshness and elegance.
Massuria 2021 is an outstanding expression of its terroir and convinces with its elegance, minerality and exceptional finesse. Its optimal drinking window extends from 2026 to 2040, underlining its excellent ageing potential.
It goes excellently with fine meat dishes, stews and regional specialities such as Cecina or Lacón. Its elegant structure and mineral freshness make it an ideal wine for special occasions and demanding connoisseurs.
