In the glass and in the cellar

Grapes: 54 % Mourvèdre, 25 % Cinsault, 19 % Grenache, 2 % Clairette

Production: around 50,000 bottles a year, depending on the vintage

Origin: AOC Bandol, La Cadière-d'Azur

Vineyard: Terraces close to the sea, vines 20 to 40 years old

Soils: Limestone and clay with stony inclusions

Climate: Mediterranean, hot dry summers, mild winters, mistral

Winemaking: Picked early in the morning, part direct-pressed, part given a short skin contact, temperature-controlled fermentation in steel

Ageing: Several months on the fine lees in steel

Alcohol: 13.5 % vol

Of the Bandol rosés we stock, this is the most powerful. Part of the grapes spends a short time on the skins before pressing, and the blend is 54 % Mourvèdre. Salmon pink with copper glints; vineyard peach, apricot, blood orange and herbs on the nose; dry and structured on the palate, with a salty note.

It can carry a whole meal, from grilled vegetables to grilled fish to bouillabaisse. Serve it at 10 to 12 °C. Alain Pascal built the estate by hand with his brother and named it after their father, known as «big Noré».

Still unsure?

Where does the Domaine du Gros'Noré get its name?

«Gros'Noré», big Noré: that is what they called Honoré Pascal, a winegrower of imposing build. After his death, his son Alain and his brother built their own estate, in the traditional Provençal style and with their own hands. Alain gave it his father's name. The domaine is in La Cadière-d'Azur, on the Chemin de l'Argile.
