Clear cherry red with a purple rim, even after twelve years. Risco 2014 smells of red berries, ripe fruit and herbs, with dry stone. Fresh and fruity on the palate, with fine tannins and lively acidity, and a lasting finish.
We would drink it slightly chilled with game or grilled meat. Aged cheese works too.

In 1979 Fernando planted his first plot on an overgrown piece of land belonging to his wife Ana's family. Today the vines grow on Roman-era terraces above the Sil, on slopes of up to 85%.

It began in 1979, when Fernando planted his first plot, “Carballo Cobo”, on an overgrown piece of land belonging to his wife Ana's family. Reviving viticulture in such a tough setting was a real risk. Today the family farms around 25 hectares in 86 plots along the Sil and beyond. Algueira is one of the pioneers that brought heroic viticulture back to the Ribeira Sacra.
