Bobal from the 2020 vintage, fermented spontaneously in concrete and then aged 17 months in new French barrels. Deep ruby with violet glints, with dark fruit, Mediterranean herbs, tobacco and earth on the nose. Full on the palate, with well-integrated tannins and lively acidity.
With lamb, game, aged cheese or a hearty vegetarian dish. If you like Bobal with plenty of new oak, this is your bottle; if you want less wood, take the Casa Don Ángel 2019, which was aged in used barrels.

The winery
Félix Martínez is the third generation to run the bodega, founded in 1945. His bush vines stand at 800 metres at the foot of the Sierra del Remedio, where the Solano wind takes the edge off the summer heat.

Vino de Pago is the highest quality level for Spanish estates. It applies to smaller estates that make outstanding wine and meet further criteria. Vera de Estenas received it in 2013, in recognition of the estate's microclimate and its consistently high quality. Only a few bodegas in Spain may use the name. The Merlot carries the origin “D.O.P. Pago Vera de Estenas”.
