Production: 9,000 bottles
Soils: Acidic Quaternary soils with alluvial terraces and colluvium. Approximately two-thirds of the plots are on gravelly soils, one-third on clay-loam soils.
Climate: Mediterranean climate with continental influences.
Vinification: The grapes were harvested early by hand. Aging took place for 12 months in French barriques (Remond), of which 10% were new barriques, the rest in barriques that had been used one to three times, as well as in stainless steel tanks.
Alcohol content: 13.2%
Tasting notes: Massuria 2007 shows a deep, intense ruby red in the glass. On the nose, the wine presents itself elegantly with complex tertiary aromas of leather, green tobacco, and macerated dark fruits. The originally floral notes have harmoniously developed over the long bottle aging, adding further complexity to the wine.
On the palate, the 2007 vintage convinces with an exceptionally soft start. The silky structure, vibrant freshness, and fine balance create an elegant and harmonious overall impression.
Massuria 2007 impressively reflects these characteristics: a mature, complex, yet remarkably fresh wine that perfectly expresses the elegance of Mencía.
The finish is long and elegant, characterized by notes of leather, green tobacco, macerated fruits, and a subtle bitter note that adds additional depth to the wine.
Special features: 2007 was a warm vintage with a very early harvest. The high temperatures led to wines with intense color and great concentration. With bottle aging, the initially floral aromatics developed into complex tertiary notes, without losing freshness and elegance.
Massuria 2007 is currently in an excellent drinking phase and, with optimal storage, still has considerable aging potential.
It pairs excellently with game, braised meat, and aged cheeses. Its elegant structure and complex mature aromatics make it an ideal wine for special occasions and discerning connoisseurs.
