Albariño, Caíño Blanco and Godello from barrique: full-bodied, silky, with lively acidity.
White wine · Albariño, Caiño Blanco, Godello · Rías Baixas, Spain · 0.75 L
Vintage: 2022
Grape variety: 50% Albariño, 25% Caíño Blanco, 25% Godello
Production: 2,000 bottles (0.75L)
Origin: DO Rías Baixas, Val do Salnés subzone
Vineyard: Traditional pergola training with 800 vines per hectare. The vineyards are located at an elevation of approximately 80 meters above granitic Entisol soils with a sandy-loamy character. Yield: approximately 5,000 kg/ha.
Soils: Granite weathering soil (Entisol), sandy-loamy structure
Climate: The 2022 vintage was characterized by a hot, dry summer with very little rainfall, which is unusual for the Atlantic-influenced Rías Baixas. Thanks to deep soils and good vineyard management, the vines remained healthy. The grapes reached excellent ripeness with intense aromas and balanced acidity.
Vinification: Hand-picked in perforated crates, sorted on a sorting table. Completely destemmed, gently pressed in a pneumatic press. Cold settling, spontaneous fermentation in French oak barrels (225 l & 500 l). Tangential filtration, clarification with isinglass.
Maturation: 12 months on the fine lees with regular batonnage in French barriques
Tasting note: A vibrant, bright yellow with golden reflections. On the nose, the 2022 vintage displays ripe citrus fruits, floral notes, and subtle wood spice. On the palate, it's voluminous, with a silky texture, vibrant freshness, and an invigorating acidity. The finish is long, complex, and carried by mineral elegance.
Food recommendation: Ideal with grilled fish, seafood, risotto, creamy pasta dishes, white meat, or mature goat cheese.

An Albariño from vines over 50 years old facing west towards the sea. After fermentation it spends six months on the fine lees in steel tanks and large oak casks. Then the bottles spend six months in crates twelve metres down in the Atlantic, by the artificial mussel beds of the rías. In the glass it is salty and juicy, with very fresh acidity. It costs CHF 89.
