In the glass

Viña de Eufemia

The estate lies in Casas de Eufemia on the high plateau of Requena, at around 700 metres, in the hinterland of Valencia. Some of the old Bobal vines are more than 80 years old.

Viña de Eufemia works by the principles of permaculture and regenerative viticulture. The soil is never ploughed, and there are no herbicides or synthetic fertilisers. Grasses, legumes and wildflowers grow between the rows, and the sheep and goats of a local shepherd graze in the vineyard. The poor, chalky soil makes the vines root deep. Fermentation is spontaneous, with the estate’s own yeasts.

The estate and the artist share the same attitude: give nature room, look closely and trust what the material wants to become.
