Origin: DO Penedès, Massís del Garraf, Catalonia

Vineyard: Organically farmed plots in the Massís del Garraf; small-scale vineyards (<2 ha), hand-harvested, without irrigation; low yields between 18–25 hl/ha.

Soils: Very shallow, calcareous loam soils with up to 40% active lime content on dolomite limestone (Triassic/Cretaceous), pH approx. 8

Climate: Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, low rainfall and cooling influences from the Mediterranean.

Vinification: Cold maceration prior to fermentation, separate spontaneous fermentation of the grape varieties with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Aging for 12 months in new and 1–2 year-old French barriques (225 l), followed by 6 years of bottle aging prior to release.

Maturation: 12 months in French oak, 6 years bottle aging

Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Tasting Note: Intense ruby red. Complex aromas of black currant, blueberry, and plum on the nose, accompanied by balsamic, spicy, and subtly roasted notes. On the palate, silky, fresh, and well-structured with ripe fruit, cedar, and undergrowth aromas. A long, generous, and persistent finish.

Food recommendation: Ideal with meat or mature hard cheese.
