Vinification: whole bunches, foot-trodden in French oak vats of 2,000 and 5,000 litres; cold maceration before fermentation, temperature-controlled fermentation, more than 30 days of post-fermentation maceration

6,800 bottles with plenty of depth and concentration: garnet, blackberry, cherry and plum, graphite, spice and roasted coffee. Full-bodied, with fine-grained ripe tannins and fresh acidity, dark chocolate, dried herbs and a long finish.
Good today and with many years ahead. Serve at 16 to 18 °C with braised lamb, game or aged cheese. To taste the same vintage from Amandi, compare it with the Homenaje 2013.

In 1979 Fernando planted his first plot on an overgrown piece of land belonging to his wife Ana's family. Today the vines grow on Roman-era terraces above the Sil, on slopes of up to 85%.

It began in 1979, when Fernando planted his first plot, “Carballo Cobo”, on an overgrown piece of land belonging to his wife Ana's family. Reviving viticulture in such a tough setting was a real risk. Today the family farms around 25 hectares in 86 plots along the Sil and beyond. Algueira is one of the pioneers that brought heroic viticulture back to the Ribeira Sacra.
