Origin: D.O. Penedès, Massís del Garraf, Catalonia
Vineyard: Organically farmed plots in the Massís del Garraf with limestone soils; the best grapes are picked by hand.
Soils: Calcareous clay with a high active lime content, typical of the karst landscape of the Massís del Garraf.
Climate: Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cooling sea breezes; 2023 brought challenging conditions for Merlot, which nonetheless helped preserve its freshness.
Vinification: Selection of the best grapes; 18 hours of skin contact; use of mosto flor (free-run juice); spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts at low temperature over 40 hours in stainless steel tanks; light fining and filtration; sulphur added only at bottling; 6 months of bottle ageing before release.
Ageing: 6 months in bottle before release
Alcohol: 13.0% vol.
Tasting note: On the nose, lively spring aromas of fresh red fruit such as plum, cherry and wild strawberry, with herbal notes. On the palate, remarkable concentration with firm, fresh acidity and a long, structured finish.
Food pairing: Great with salads, fish, seafood, grilled meat, aged cheese and Mediterranean dishes.
