Algueira Pizarra 2009 displays an intense garnet red color with light brick-red reflections, underscoring its mature elegance. On the nose, ripe aromas of red and black fruits such as cherries, plums, and blackberries unfold, combined with notes of graphite, dried herbs, and a hint of cedar wood. The mineral character of the slate soil adds depth and complexity.
On the palate, the 2009 vintage is structured and powerful, with velvety, well-ripened tannins and a fresh, balanced acidity. Aromas of dark berries, delicate spices, and roasted coffee blend harmoniously with an elegant mineral note. The finish is long, complex, and marked by a clear terroir imprint that reflects the essence of the Ribeira Sacra.
Algueira Pizarra 2009 is a mature wine with exceptional potential, now at its peak but also capable of aging for years to come. Perfectly enjoyed at 16–18°C, it makes an excellent accompaniment to game dishes, braised lamb shank, or aged Manchego cheese. An impressive vintage that masterfully represents Algueira's craftsmanship and the uniqueness of its terroir.
