Grape variety: 100% Mencía

Production: not specified

Origin: DO Bierzo, northwest Spain – vineyards around the village of San Lorenzo del Bierzo on the slopes of the Aquilianos Mountains.

Vineyard: Bush vines (“en vaso”) over 50 years old, cultivated without herbicides or chemical fungicides.

Soils: Slate and clay soils with high mineral content, typical of the slopes of the Bierzo Valley.

Orientation: Terraced vineyards on the mountain slopes, south and southeast exposure

Climate: Atlantic with continental influence: mild temperatures, distinct day-night amplitudes, and regular rainfall; ideal conditions for the aromatic freshness of the Mencía grape.

Vinification: Hand-harvested in 15-kg crates, careful selection, and complete destemming. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. No wood aging.

Maturation: 3 months on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks to enhance texture and aromatic complexity.

Alcohol content: Approx. 13% vol.

Tasting Notes: Intense purple color. Inviting on the nose with notes of fresh red fruits (cherries, raspberries) and subtle spice nuances. On the palate, juicy, fresh, and balanced with lively fruit, fine tannin structure, and harmonious acidity. A long, fruity finish with elegant minerality.

Food pairing: Ideal with tapas, grilled meat, game, pasta with tomato sauces, and medium-bodied cheeses. A versatile, authentic expression of the Mencía grape variety from Bierzo.
